A “must attend” seven hour class for beekeepers who have done at least one season in beekeeping. We explore topics from “reading” your frames, manipulating your frames for increasing honey production, swarm management, varroa mite counts & treatments, making splits/merging colonies to queen management basics: queenlessness, re-queening, “hot” hives. We will be out in the bee yard for a lot of this class in addition to class time doing some of the actual topics we discussed.

Class is limited in size to 10 students to ensure a quality experience. Bring a brown bag lunch (microwave available). We will provide the water and sweet tea.

Cost is $90/person. A visit to the bee yard with “hands on” in our hives weather permitting is included.

Email: TexasFreshHarvestFarm@gmail.com OR Text Linda 830-688-0560 to register and if you desire, more information.

What? You Want a Dairy Goat?

The popularity of having your own dairy goat continues to be a strong trend. The secret is out that these animals are so multi-purpose commodities. Awesome pets! Great yet simple milk producers! Youth responsibility trainers! Healthy meat sources! I could go on but I’ll save it for the class.

This Saturday class will give you the basics of:

-Help you determine “why” you want a dairy goat -Learn about the various “types” of dairy goats pro’s/con’s - What are the absolute “essentials” for caring for a dairy goat - Feeding and daily care - Milking!! (yes actual milking session with “hands-on” for both manual and with a milker machine) - How to safely “handle” your milk so it is safe for human consumption. Diary goat health concerns - and so much more….

-Bring a “hearty” lunch and munchies as you will be in both classroom and the barn working with the goats in this class. We will provide water and sweet tea. Comfortable “working” clothes that can get “dirty”. Closed solid shoes.

Cost is $100/person. Guaranteed you will learn several valuable lessons to “avoid” way more costly mistakes than the cost of this class!

Inclement Weather: I.E. Raining on the day of your scheduled Tour: Farms are just downright nasty when it rains.
