TFH Farm's Beekeeping Classes

Linda is in the Texas Master Beekeeper program and is currently in the advanced level. She will be testing for the Master level next. These classes all involve learning principles and learning styles for everyone so they can experience and gain knowledge in this fascinating field quickly but accurately.  In our classes we will help you build your confidence each step of the way starting with some head knowledge which will then translate into your actual reality of working in the hives in the bee yard! Along with Linda is CG Hare, a wonderfully delightful and funny co-educator who has had hives for over five years. He is the owner of "Bunny's Honey Apiary". What makes us feel our classes are special is that we make the learning applicable to where you are at and we spend over 1.5 to 2 hours with "hands on" in the bee yard where you are not just watching but "doing"!

Begining Beekeeping

A must class for all new beekeepers. This five hour class covers what beekeeping is all about, the social structure of bees, honey bee anatomy, the hive organization, how bees communicate, foraging/nectar/pollen, and who does what in the hive. The seasonal cycle of bees and when Texas Honey Flows typically happen. Where to purchase and what type of bees to purchase. We discuss Africanized bees and management of them. What type of hives do you want? Where do you get those. Without understanding at a basic level these functions you will experience more hardship and financial loss when you start up your hives as so much of what beekeepers do depends on this information. Plus it’s just plain fascinating to see how these little critters function!
